Monday/Tuesday Transactions

Bridgeport assigned Mike Cornell and the NY Islanders assigned 2016 7th Round Draft pick David Quenneville to Worcester on Tuesday. Without speaking too soon, it looks like Cornell will return to his captain role with Almeida being the alternate. Josh Holmstrom, Nick Sorkin, and Tyler Barnes look to be candidates to wear the second “A” for the team.

Goaltender Evan Buitenhuis arrived in Worcester on Monday on what was known to be a PTO, however ECHL transactions confirm that he was signed to an SPC by the end of that day.

In other transactions, Alex Alex Sakellaropoulos signed an SPC with Adirondack and Daniel Ciampini signed a PTO with Brampton. Willie Raskob was assigned to Kansas City (by Stockton), Matt Lane was assigned to Atlanta (by Milwaukee), and Josh MacArdle to Indy (by Rockford).

According to CTNews’ Michael Fornabaio, Matthew Gaudreau is on crutches and will be out a couple of weeks.

Updated Training Camp Roster

With the additions of Quenneville and Cornell, the Railers currently have 22 Skaters (15 Contracts, 7 PTOs) and Four Goaltenders (2 contracts, 2 PTOs) on their training camp roster. Railers have until October 10 to submit their opening night roster of 21 Skaters, 2 Goalies and can have an additional two players on reserve. We could see transactions indicating more players being assigned to Worcester, released from contract, or signed to a full SPC in the coming days.

The following is the team roster, with asterisks indicating the player is signed to a PTO.

New Numbers and Use of Numbers

With the Railers training camp roster officially being released yesterday, it revealed a bunch of new numbers that we’ll be seeing this season:

Dylan Willick moved to #11 (Wore #42 last season)
Josh Holmstrom moved to #12 (Wore #11 last season)
PTO skaters are wearing #17, #18, #19, #22, #41, #27, #44
PTO goaltenders are wearing #31 and #39

I’ve listed the PTO numbers as these jerseys will be re-used for any signings during the regular season like they were last year.

Additionally, if/when these players return to Worcester, they will likely wear the following:

Matthew Gaudreau #21 (#8 is being worn by Nick Sorkin this season, Gaudreau wore #21 at Boston College)
Jeff Kubiak #16/#26 (#16 was issued to Malcolm Gould before he was released, Kubiak wore #26 at Cornell, Kubiak could be wearing either 16 or 26 now that Gould has been released.)
Yanick Turcotte #20
