Game Story

Worcester, MA – The Worcester Railers and the Adirondack Thunder faced-off at the DCU Center for Game 3 of the North Division Semi-Finals on Sunday.

Adirondack’s Brian Ward scored off a rebound, giving the Thunder the first goal of the game. Moments earlier, the Eamon McAdam made a few saves and defenseman Ryan McKinnon made one as well, the goal scoring shot came with MacKinnon in the net behind McAdam. Adirondack led 1-0, outshooting Worcester 18-11.

Adirondack would extend their lead in the second period after a Railers turnover in their zone, with a shot coming from Mike Szmatula seconds later and in over the pads of Eamon McAdam. Jeff Kubiak scored his first playoff goal after deking through a pair of Adirondack skaters and getting a shot past the left side of Adirondack Goaltender MacKenzie Blackwood.

Railers scored a second goal that was called off after the net was flipped over as the puck crossed the goal line. Thunder held a 2-1 lead, outshooting Worcester 28-20 after two periods.

After what seemed like a dozen shots on goal in the closing minutes of regulation the Railers could not find the net with the extra attacker.

The Three Stars of the Game were: Brian Ward(1 goal, 1 assist), Jeff Kubiak (1 goal), Kenton Miller (1 assist).

The Railers and Thunder play in Game 4 on Wednesday in Glens Falls, with a puck drop at 7 PM.
