Game Story

Worcester, MA – The Worcester Railers took on the Adirondack Thunder for Game 2 of the North Division Semi-Finals. The game was the first-ever Kelly Cup Playoff game held at the DCU Center in Worcester.

Neither team scored in the first period, despite a few chances at scoring from both teams. Matt Lane had a couple of chances on a breakaway which were proven to be unsuccessful. Worcester outshot Adirondack, 10-4 after twenty.

Woody Hudson scored for the Railers in the second period, tipping a puck in the net that found it’s way in after being wedged between the post and Adirondack’s MacKenzie Blackwood. Railers had their first lead (and goal) of the series after forty, leading 1-0 and outshooting the Thunder 21-10.

Barry Almeida put the game away with the empty net goal, with Adirondack having a 6-on-4 advantage. Shots were 27-14 after 60.

The Three Stars of the Game were: Mitch Gillam (win, shutout, 14 saves), Woody Hudson (1 goal), and Yanick Turcotte (1 assist).
