Game Story
Manchester, NH – After clinching their first-ever playoff berth on Friday, the Worcester Railers faced the Manchester Monarchs in Manchester on Saturday.
With only two games left in the regular season, these two games are nothing more than rest games for the Railers as they are locked in as the fourth seed. However, the Monarchs were still fighting for the first seed in the North Division.
Newcomers Dwyer Tschantz and Dylan Willick scored for the Railers in the first period. Tschantz’s goal was his first pro goal. Monarchs’ Kevin Morris and Matt Schmalz each scored goals 25 seconda of each other in the closing minutes of the period. Game was tied at 2 after the opening frame with Worcester outshooting Manchester 6-5.
Into the second period, neither team scored. Connor Doherty picked up his fifth fighting major of the season in a scrap against Craig Wyszomirski. With the game still tied, Manchester outshot Worcester 17-7 in the period.
TJ Syner picked up his tenth goal of the season in the third period, assisted by Josh McArdle and Woody Hudson.
The three stars of the game were: Josh McArdle, Matt Schmalz, and Kevin Morris. Railers have extended their win streak to a season-best 7 games.
The Railers and Monarchs face each other for their final games of the season on Sunday in Worcester. Puck drops at 3 PM.

- Patrick Cullity and Josh Holmstrom were recalled to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Thursday. Yanick Turcotte was reassigned to Worcester by Bridgeport on the same day.
- Railers clinched their first-ever playoff berth on Friday, with the Wheeling Nailers losing to the Brampton Beast, 4-3.
- Railers are stuck in the forth seed in the North as are the Reading Royals with third seed. The first and second seeds in the North will be finalized with the conclusion of this weekend’s games for the Adirondack Thunder and Manchester Monarchs.
- Worcester’s AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, can be elminated tonight with a loss and a win by the Lehigh-Valley Phantoms.
