Game Story

Glens Falls, NY — The Worcester Railers were shut out 7-0 by the Adirondack Thunder on Friday night.

The Adirondack Thunder scored six goals in the third period to secure their second win over the Worcester Railers. The Railers were unable to convert on any of their four power play opportunities, while the Thunder were successful on three of their six chances. Issac Poulter earned his first career shutout, stopping all 20 shots made by Worcester. Xavier Parent scored a hat trick, Sebastian Vidmar had two goals, and Grant Jozefek and Ryan Smith also scored in Adirondack’s 7-0 victory. Henrik Tikkanen had 38 saves in his fifteenth appearance of the season.

Noah Delmas fought Nick Rivera in the first period, with Rivera knocking Delmas’ helmet off and getting Delmas’ jersey over his head at 5:14. The Railers had a brief power play that lasted only four seconds before Bobby Butler was penalized for slashing and Phil Beaulieu was given a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct, leaving the Railers at a 4-on-3 disadvantage. As the penalties expired, Railers alum Grant Jozefek tipped in a pass from Jared Gourley at 7:19 to give the Thunder a 1-0 lead.

The score was 1-0 after one and with neither team scoring in the second, it was 1-0 after two. Ryan Smith gave the Thunder a 2-0 lead with his first goal of the season at 5:48 in the third period. The Railers would get further and further away from the Thunder with Xavier Parent making it 3-0 a minute and a half later at 12:20. Reece Newkirk would end his night after cross-checking Jarrod Gourley, earning an early shower with a double minor, called as high-sticking and another penalty for roughing. The Thunder would go on to score three power-play goals in a span of 2:25 to make it 6-0. Xavier Parent would net the hat trick at 17:19 for the Thunder’s sixth win of the season.
