Railers Announce Season-Ending Roster

Railers released their season-ending roster on Friday. The roster consists of 20 players who were signed during the 2017-18 season. Since the Railers did not have any player rights from prior seasons, this roster looks similar to the protected list submitted a few weeks ago. This roster does not include players who had contracts with either the New York Islanders or Bridgeport Sound Tigers during this past season.

Mitch Gillam, Ben Masella, Connor Doherty, Kyle McKenzie, Tommy Panico, Ryan MacKinnon, Justin Hamonic, Patrick McNally, Justin Agosta, Dylan Willick, Nick Saracino, Woody Hudson, T.J. Syner, Frank DiChiara, Barry Almeida, Jake Randolph, Chris Langkow, Tommy Kelley

Railers could begin signing players for the 2018-19 season on Saturday.

Railers Announce Derek Army as Assistant Coach

The Railers announced on Friday that Derek Army was named as the team’s newest assistant coach. Army joins the Railers after spending the past four seasons with the Wheeling Nailers and served as the team’s Captain for the past two.

Army played for three seasons with the Providence College Friars (2011-14), which continues an on-going trend for the team with several players from Providence coming to Worcester to work under head coach Jamie Russell.

Army replaces Terry Bangen, who has left the team after one season.

The team’s press release can be found here.

The newest ECHL Collective Bargaining agreement (CBA) will take effect July 1st 2018 through June 30, 2023. Weekly salary caps will increase by $200 next season to $13,000 per week and increase by $300 every season through 2022-23.

Rookie minimum salaries are $470 with a maximum of $550 per week. Non-rookie players have a $510 minimum salary per week with no set maximum.

Per diem expenses will be $43 per day next season and will increase by $2 each year until the CBA expires.

Railers Quiet in Future Considerations Trades

ECHL teams had until 3:00 pm EDT on Friday to finalize future considerations trades. As mentioned last week, the Railers had a single trade that was under this classification, which sent Anthony Calabrese to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in February. Teams could either finalize these trades by trading a player’s rights or send cash to finalize the trades.

No announcements from Greenville nor Worcester were made in regards to the trade, so it is assumed that the trade was finalized with cash.

Recent Jersey Auction Results

The Railers held their third jersey auction last week. The following jerseys were auctioned off:

M. Gaudreau #8 – $499
J. Randolph #13 – $409
Y. Turcotte #20 – $579
J. Monk #27 –
M. Gillam #39 – $619

The Railers are expected to hold another jersey auction with the remaining jerseys to be held for future auctions and raffles.
