Game Story

Worcester, MA – Worcester Railers and the Brampton Beast faced each other for the second of two weekend games at the DCU Center on Saturday.

Dylan Willick started the Railers off on a high note, scoring his first professional goal on a breakaway chance in the first period. Railers led 1-0, outshooting Brampton 15-9.

The momentum continued into the second period with a pair of goals from Matt Gaudreau and Barry Almeida. Gaudreau scored his eleventh of the season with shot from the left side of net from cross-ice pass from Nick Saracino. Barry Almeida scored his twenty-first on a breakway that was identical to Willick’s first period goal, which was also shorthanded.

Nick Saracino scored his twelfth goal of the season 47 seconds into the third period, which is his seventh point in the last five games. Brampton scored their first of the game minutes later with a shot off a rebound that slipped under the pads of goalie Mitch Gillam.

The three stars of the game were: Dylan Willick, Barry Almeida, and Matt Gaudreau. Railers finish the season series against Brampton 4-2-0-1.

Worcester stays within a single point of the North Division’s last playoff spot as the Wheeling Nailers beat the Manchester Monarchs 4-1 tonight. Railers still have 2 games in hand over Wheeling.

The Railers will make the overnight tip to Glens Falls, New York, to face the Adirondack Thunder on Sunday. Puck drops at 3 PM.
