Trois-Rivieres, QC — The Worcester Railers secured their third consecutive victory over the Trois-Rivières Lions, opening the weekend with a 3-2 win in overtime.Michael Bullion earned his 16th win of the season, stopping 23 shots and now has wins in his last six starts. Luke Cavallin made 28 saves for Trois-Rivières. Worcester’s goals came from Lincoln Hatten, Pito Walton, and Anthony Repaci, while Nicolas Guay and Jakov Novak found the net for the Lions.
Justin Gill extended his point streak to three games with an assist (3-2-5), Connor Welsh stretched his to four games with an assist (1-4-5), and Matt DeMelis recorded a point for the fifth straight game with an assist (2-3-5). Anthony Repaci continued his impressive run, now on a seven-game point streak after scoring the game-winning goal (4-8-12).
Lincoln Hatten opened the scoring in the first period, giving Worcester a 1-0 lead. Hatten collected a rebound from Tanner Schachle and beat Luke Cavallin from the right circle at 12:56. His goal stood as the only tally of the period, with goaltender Michael Bullion stopping all nine shots from Trois-Rivières. The Railers outshot the Lions 11-9 in the opening frame.
Worcester doubled its lead early in the second when Pito Walton netted his first goal as a Railer during a four-on-four sequence, following roughing penalties to Griffin Loughran and Jakov Novak. Walton’s blue-line shot, bounced over the pads of Cavallin at 6:07. Trois-Rivières responded with back-to-back goals at 6:39 and 14:10 in the second period, with Nicolas Guay and Jakov Novak evened the score at 2-2. The Railers held a 10-7 shot advantage in the second period.
Both teams had power play opportunities in the third, but neither could break the deadlock, sending the game to overtime for the seventh time this season between the two clubs. Worcester outshot Trois-Rivières 9-5 in the third.
Early in overtime, Worcester killed off a high-sticking penalty against Jordan Kaplan, with Bullion making four key saves. The Railers needed just one shot to end it, as Anthony Repaci buried the game-winner, securing a 3-2 victory. Repaci’s goal was setup after Matt DeMelis missed a shot from the initial setup by Repaci, he recollected the puck and passed to Repaci inside the left faceoff circle, where he got the shot past Cavallin to put the game away. Trois-Rivières held a 4-1 shot advantage in overtime, but Worcester finished ahead 31-25 overall.

On Wednesday, the scheduled game between the Norfolk Admirals and Reading Royals was postponed due to poor ice conditions at the Norfolk Scope. This game was rescheduled for April 2nd. On Friday night, the Adirondack Thunder shutout the Indy Fuel 3-0 in Glens Falls. Down in Reading, the Reading Royals beat the Maine Mariners 4-1, securing a win with back-to-back empty net goals in the final 70 seconds. The Norfolk Admirals shutout the Savannah Ghost Pirates 5-0 in Norfolk. In Wheeling, the Nailers shutout the Cincinnati Cyclones 2-0. The Railers remain two points ahead of the Reading Royals for fourth place in the division, with Reading still having two games in hand. All seven North division teams have rematches with the same teams they faced on Friday night.
The Bridgeport Islanders fell to the Hershey Bears 4-1 on Wednesday night and were shutout 6-0 to the Rochester Americans on Friday night. Henrik Tikkanen was the starting goaltender in both games, making 26 saves on 29 shots on Wednesday night, and was pulled on Friday night after Rochester’s fifth goal. Jack Randl and Riley Piercey have been scratches for both games, Christian Krygier is still injured and has not played in two months. Daylan Kueffler was the lone Railers skater who dressed for both games. The Islanders head to Toronto where they’ll face the Marlies on Sunday at 4 p.m.
The Railers and Lions return to the Colisée Vidéotron on Saturday afternoon for game second game of the weekend, puck drops at 3 p.m.
