Game Story
Trois-Rivières, QC – The Worcester Railers fell 3-2 in overtime to the Trois-Rivières Lions on Saturday afternoon at Colisée Vidéotron, dropping the first of four straight meetings between the clubs.
Parker Gahagen turned aside 36 shots and took his fourth overtime loss of the season. William Lavallière made his first ECHL start of the year and earned the win with 23 saves. The Lions skated in black Star Wars-themed specialty jerseys. Anthony Beauregard, Egor Goriunov, and Morgan Adams-Moisan scored for Trois-Rivières, while Anthony Callin and Ryan Miotto found the back of the net for Worcester. Despite the loss, the Railers extended their point streak to seven games.
Trois-Rivières appeared to open the scoring on a hand pass at 6:25 of the first period, but the play was immediately waved off. Worcester later had a 90-second 5-on-3 advantage but couldn’t capitalize. Beauregard broke through with 3:13 remaining in the period after a failed clearance by Adam Samuelsson, giving the Lions a 1-0 lead. Trois-Rivières outshot Worcester 11-8 in the opening frame.
The score held at 1-0 through the second period. Worcester earned another power play with 59 seconds left and outshot the Lions 12-10 in the period but still couldn’t solve Lavallière.
Callin tied the game at 4:54 of the third, finishing a breakaway chance as the puck crossed the line during a scramble. Just 30 seconds later, Khristian Acosta was driven into the boards by Jacob Paquette and was slow to get up, prompting Samuelsson to drop the gloves with Paquette, who went unpenalized. Ryan Miotto gave Worcester a 2-1 lead only 39 seconds after Callin’s goal after intercepting a pass from a Lions skater. Goriunov pulled Trois-Rivières even at 16:44, and the Lions dominated the third-period shot count 16-5.
In overtime, Gahagen made a key scramble save early, but Adams-Moisan scored the winner at 3:08. Worcester did not record a shot in the extra frame, while Trois-Rivières had two.
The Three Stars of the Game were:
- Morgan Adams-Moisan (Trois-Rivieres) – game-winning goal
- Egor Goriunov (Trois-Rivieres) – 1 goal
- William Lavallière (Trois-Rivieres) – win, 23 saves, 0.920 SV%
