Game Story

Brampton, ON — The Worcester Railers and Brampton Beast met for the second game in three days on Tuesday morning. The Brampton Beast hosted their education day game. Railers took the game 2-1 in overtime.

Ryan Scarfo put the Beast on the board with a second-rate of five minutes with a turnover in the Railers zone. Railers had their first power play chance fifteen seconds later with Scarfo in the box. Tyler Mueller picked up his first fighting major in a scrap with Scarfo. Matt Gaudreau went to the box late in the period for a high-sticking call and his penalty was killed off. Brampton’s Erik Bradford was awarded a penalty shot that was blocked away by Mitch Gillam. Shots were 13-12 Worcester with Brampton scoring the only goal after twenty minutes of action.

Matt Gaudreau tied the game with his third goal of the season at 3:50 in the second period. Railers were 0-for-2 on the power play during the period. The game was split through forty minutes with one goal and 21 shots apiece.

Kyle McKenzie left the game in the second period and for a moment it looked like Mitch Gillam could’ve left the game in a rough collision with a Beast skater. Gillam was briefly attended to by the Beast athletic trainer, but Gillam remained in net for the remainder of the period and stayed in net for the third period. McKenzie did not return to the game.

Railers and Beast kept at it through the third period. With the game undecided through sixty minutes, we were headed into overtime. Dylan Willick scored the game-winning goal on a rebound the bring home a win.

Announced postgame, the three stars of the game were:

  1. Dylan Willick (Worcester) – GWG
  2. Mitch Gillam (Worcester) – 37 saves, win
  3. Ryan Scarfo (Brampton) – 1 goal, fight

Road Trippin’: Railers will wrap-up their road trip on Friday against the Maine Mariners at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland, Maine. Puck drops at 7 PM.
