Glens Falls, NY — For the second straight night the Worcester Railers scored first, lost the lead, and applied pressure to turn the game around in the third period, beating the Adirondack Thunder 4-2 on Saturday night.

Both teams rotated goalies Saturday with Tristan Lennox getting the start for Worcester, stopping 36 shots by the Thunder in his fifth win of the season. Jeremy Brodeur, who was scratched Friday night, was in the net for Adirondack, stopping 18 shots by Worcester. Anthony Callin, Todd Goehring, and Zach White each extended their point streaks to four games, while Trevor Cosgrove’s streak ended at five games. Anthony Callin, Ashton Calder, Jake Pivonka, and Zach White scored for Worcester, while Travis Broughman and Yushiroh Hirano had goals for Adirondack.

Following a scoreless first period, Anthony Callin broke the stalemate at 4:56 in the second period, unleashing a wrist shot from the right circle to beat Jeremy Brodeur for the 1-0 lead. Travis Broughman answered with a goal on a rebound from Grant Jozefek two and a half minutes later. Yushiroh Hirano gave the Thunder the go-ahead goal, scoring while Connor Welsh sat on a tripping call, on a slapshot off the post to give the Thunder a 2-1 lead to end the second period.

In a repeat performance from the previous game, the Railers once again leveled the score in the third period. Ashton Calder found the back of the net from the top of the crease, capitalizing on a Keeghan Howdeshell rebound at 9:22 of the third, tying the game 2-2. Worcester seized the lead just 1:02 later, with Jake Pivonka netting his seventh goal of the year. Zach White scored on the empty net with 6.9 seconds left on the clock to secure the 4-2 victory.

  3. Yushiroh Hirano (Adirondack) – 1 goal

Wrapping up the week with a perfect score of four out of four points, the Railers now hold the fourth position in the North Division. The upcoming stretch is crucial, as the Railers are scheduled to compete in the next five games at home, with four of them against the Norfolk Admirals and the Adirondack Thunder—who currently hold the second and third spots in the division.

The Railers close out the month of November with a School Day game on Wednesday morning against the Kansas City Mavericks, in the first-ever meeting between the two teams. The game kicks off at 10:05 a.m.
