Game Story
Glens Falls, NY – The Worcester Railers fell 3-2 to the Adirondack Thunder on Wednesday night.
Parker Gahagen made his fifth straight start for Worcester, stopping 24 shots in his first recorded loss for the Railers. Jeremy Brodeur has 26 saves for the Thunder and improved to a 7-6-0-1 record all-time against the Railers. Matt DeMelis and Anthony Callin scored for Worcester. Jackson van de Leest, Luke Reid, and Josh Filmon scored for the Thunder. Michael Suda extended his point streak to four games with an assist (0-5-5), Anthony Callin extended his to five games with his goal (2-3-5).
Railers were 0-for-7 on the power play, and killed three of the four penalties they had, along with a shorthanded goal.
Jackson van de Leest opened up scoring at 6:49 when Adirondack was on their first power play of the night, tipping in a shot from Alex Campbell to give Adirondack a 1-0 lead. Exactly eight minutes later, Luke Reid scored top shelf to make it 2-0. Railers had three power plays in the first period, and were unable to get on the board in the first period. Adirondack outshot Worcester 12-1.
14 seconds into the second period, Matt DeMelis broke into the Adirondack zone, passed the puck to Michael Suda, and received as pass back where he beat Jeremy Brodeur to cut Adirondack’s lead to 2-1. Just as Riley Ginnell was exiting the box for a slashing penalty, the Thunder found the back of the net again, Josh Filmon scored on a one-timer to bring the game to 3-1. Anthony Callin scored shorthanded later in the period when Worcester was serving a too many men call just 12 seconds prior. He skated into the zone and beat Brodeur glove side for his fifth goal of the season. Ross Mitton had another good shot to tie the game later in that penalty kill, but hit the post. Shots were tied at eight heading into the third period.
Worcester would have another power play at 10:53 in the third period and with three minutes to go, it was 4-on-4. Parker Gahagen would be pulled for the extra attacker, but the Railers would not be able to score the game up. They would eventually get an abbreviated power play, making it 5-on-3 with 20 seconds left, but would end the game with a 3-2 score. Worcester had 9 shots, Adirondack had 7 shots in the period, bringing totals to 28-28 on the night.

- Josh Filmon (Adrondack) – 1 goal
The Reading Royals beat the Wheeling Nailers 3-2 in the only other North Division game on Wednesday night. All North Division teams except Worcester and Maine play on Friday night.
The Railers head to Portland on Saturday for face the Maine Mariners at 6:00 p.m.
Woo Hockey will be taking a break from coverage this weekend, observing the Goosemas Holiday weekend in Providence, but will be returning next Wednesday when the Railers host the Admirals at 7:05 p.m.
