Worcester, MA – The Worcester Railers HC announced the hiring of Terry Bangen as their first assistant coach on Tuesday.

Bangen joins the Railers after spending the past three seasons with the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL and has 29 years of coaching experience. Bangen previously served as the assistant coach of the Vancouver Canucks from 1996 to 1998. He also served as an assistant coach for the Blazers from 1990 to 1995, which included three successful Memorial Cup runs in 1992, 1994, and 1995. He has also had coaching stints with the Tri-City Americans, Cariboo College (Thompson Rivers University), McGill University Redmen and Hockey Canada.

“Terry will definitely help the Railers win hockey games right out of the gate,” said Railers HC General Manager and Head Coach Jamie Russell. “Terry’s experience and track record working with hockey players at all levels will offer a terrific hockey mind to develop Railers players and provide them with the tools to win hockey games.”

Bangen has also worked for NHL Scouting Central in 2002-05 and was the Direct of Player Personnel for the Tri-City Americans from 2005 to 2010 and served as a senior advisor for the team. Bengen served as the the assistant coach for Team Canada in 1994 and 1996, for their U18 and National Junior teams, respectively.

Bangen will join head coach Jamie Russell behind the bench for the Railers’ inaugural 2017-18 season. The search for players has already begun and we can assume Bangen’s past experiences can help the Railers assemble a strong team.
