After one pro season in the ECHL, it appears that Josh Monk has hung up his skates.
Monk was one of the many former Providence College Friars to make their way to Worcester. Alongside Kyle McKenzie and Nick Saracino, Josh previously played for Railers head coach at Providence College and four years experience that was topped off with a NCAA Championship during the 2014-15 season.
Monk scored one goal for the Railers during their inaugural season and played in just 13 games. He scored his only professional goal on November 22, 2017, against Wheeling. Monk sat out the remainder of the season after suffering an upper-body injury on December 10. Monk was seen at Railers practices towards the end of the regular season but did not return to action.
Monk was not issued a qualifying offer by the Railers at the conclusion of the 2017-18 season.

According to Providence Journal’s Mark Divver, Josh Monk will return to his alma mater and will take a position as an assistant coach for the Providence College Friars.
Monk is the second Railers player from last season to announce their retirement during this off-season. TJ Syner announced his retirement in July, and voluntarily took an assistant coach position at Boston College.
