LAST WEEK: The IceCats played three games over the Holiday Weekend and picked up three points. On Saturday night, the ‘Cats were in Springfield and skated to a 4-4 tie. Bryan Helmer factored in all the Worcester scoring as he notched two goals and two assists. The following afternoon the IceCats handed the Crunch a 6-4 loss. Six separate scorers helped the IceCats garner their first win of the season. On Monday, the Providence Bruins were at Worcester’s Centrum Centre. The IceCats led the game in the second period 3-2 with goals from three rookies, but fell to the defending Calder Cup Champions, 5-3. For the IceCats, it was their first defeat of the 1999-2000 campaign.

PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS: Bryan Helmer-Two goals and three assists on the week and was a plus one. Marty Reasoner-He now has points in all four IceCats games (1 goal/4 assists/5 points). Ladislav Nagy-Has points in three of four IceCats games, including a goal against Providence (1/3/4). Andrej Podkonicky-He has also accumulated points in three of the four tilts this season (1/3/4).

TRANSACTIONS: October 11th: D Bryan Helmer recalled to St. Louis. D Tyler Harlton recalled from Peoria to Worcester.

FIRST PRO GOALS: IceCats rookies Peter Smrek, Jame Pollock and Tyler Rennette each scored their first professional goals over the weekend. Trevor Wasyluk scored his mantle-piece goal on Opening Night and added his second on Monday against Providence.

UPCOMING ICECATS GAMES: The IceCats host the Lowell Lock Monsters on Friday night at 7:35 PM. Worcester and Lowell skated to a 3-3 tie in the IceCats Season Opener on October 2nd. The IceCats will then travel to Lowell on Saturday night for a 7:00 PM puck drop.
