Worcester, MA- The Worcester IceCats fired 31 shots at Portland netminder Martin Brochu, but couldn’t put a chink in his armor as the ‘Cats suffered a 3-0 loss at Worcester’s Centrum Centre.
Portland forward Ryan Mulhern put the Pirates on the board in the first, while Mike Peluso and Jeff Toms found the back of the Worcester net in the third period.
Brent Johnson was in goal for Worcester and turned aside 24 of 27 shots, while his counterpart Brochu stopped all of Worcester’s 31 shots on goal. For Brochu, it was his second shutout of the season.
IceCats forward Jamie Thompson said after the game, “We think we can just step onto the ice sometimes and everything will just fall into place, but that’s not the case in this League. You’ve got to go out and play hard every night.”
Worcester will look to rebound on Friday night (October 29th) as they host the Quebec Citadelles at Worcester’s Centrum Centre at 7:35 PM.
