Game Story

Gabriel Carriere picked up his first win of the season in his second start with Worcester, making 21 saves. Jeremy Brodeur stopped 19 shots for Adirondack. Lincoln Hatten, Jordan Kaplan, and Stevie Moses scored for Worcester, while Cole Tymkin and Tristan Ashbrook found the back of the net for Adirondack.

The opening period was scoreless, with Adirondack controlling much of the play and outshooting Worcester 11-5. The Railers did not record their first shot on goal until the 8:40 mark of the period. Play was stopped with 1:04 remaining after Michael Suda took a puck to the head. Suda was helped to his feet by the athletic trainers before heading down the tunnel.

The Thunder appeared to break the scoreless tie at 12:57 in the second period, but the play went to video review and was ruled no goal. Adirondack eventually did get on the board at 17:57 when Cole Tymkin finished a pass from Jarrett Lee across the crease to make it 1-0. Worcester answered less than a minute later. Lincoln Hatten collected a rebound from Jordan Kaplan and put a backhander past Jeremy Brodeur with 1:09 remaining in the period, tying the game at 1-1. Adirondack held a 19-14 shooting advantage through 40 minutes.

The third period opened with some fireworks as Cole Donhauser dropped the gloves with Jace Isley at 1:04 in front of the Adirondack bench. Donhauser controlled the fight, landing several heavy punches before the two were separated. Worcester took its first lead of the game at 9:46. Jordan Kaplan was credited with the goal after the puck bounced off Adirondack defenseman Charlie Leddy and into the net behind Brodeur, giving the Railers a 2-1 advantage. Stevie Moses added some insurance at 14:14, beating Brodeur with a wrist shot over the shoulder to extend Worcester’s lead to 3-1. With Cooper Moore in the penalty box for slashing and Brodeur pulled for the extra attacker, Tristan Ashbrook scored on the 6-on-4 advantage with 59 seconds remaining to cut Worcester’s lead to one.

The Railers held on from there to secure the 3-2 victory and finished the game with a 23-22 advantage in shots.

The three stars of the game were:

1. Stevie Moses (Worcester) – game-winning goal
2. Gabriel Carriere (Worcester) – win, 21 saves, 0.913 SV%
3. Tristan Ashbrook (Adirondack) – 1 goal

Monday’s matchup was the lone game on the ECHL schedule.

The Railers return to the DCU Center on Saturday night when they host the Wheeling Nailers at 6:05 p.m. in the first of back-to-back games this weekend.
