Game Story

Worcester, MA – The Worcester Railers pushed their win streak to four with a 2–1 overtime victory over the Maine Mariners on Friday night.

Henrik Tikkanen picked up his fourth win of the season and his third straight win, stopping all but one of Maine’s 34 shots. The Railers and Mariners skated through scoreless opening period before Worcester finally broke through late in the second, as Ryan Miotto buried a power play rebound with 2:01 remaining. Maine answered just 20 seconds later when Andrew Nielsen ripped a one-timer from the left point to end Henrik Tikkanen’s shutout bid, with the game eventually going to overtime after a quiet third. Worcester dominated the overtime period and sealed its fourth straight win when Matt DeMelis finished a Riley Ginnell setup at the 5:00 mark.

  • Maine Scratches: Ethan Pearson, Jackson Stewart, Liam Gorman, Mason Primeau, Owen Gallatin, Ty Cheveldayoff, and Wyllum Deveaux.
  • Riley Piercey served game 7 of his 7-game suspension on Friday night. He’s eligible to play in Saturday’s game against Greensboro.
  • The newest signage at the DCU Center is now live and working. This includes signage out on the concourse, ribbon boards along the upper bowl, and exterior signage outside the main entrance and at the convention center. Ribbon boards across the lower bowl now have team logos, they previously just had the team names in bold text.
  • Jason Horvath signed with the Idaho Steelheads after the Railers released him just a few weeks ago. The Railers had acquired him for future considerations from Idaho at the beginning of the season.
  • The jersey raffle of the game is a game-worn Ryan Dickinson Worcester 6 jersey from the 2024-25 season. The jersey was originally listed for Dash Auction during the games and had sold for $400. Typically, if the team still has the jersey that is an indicator of an issue with payment from whomever placed the highest bid.
  • Following Friday night’s game, the Railers had the following scoring streaks and droughts:
    • Anthony Hora is without a point in his last three games.
