Trois-Rivieres, QC – The Worcester Railers dropped the last game of the weekend series to the Trois-Rivieres Lions, 3-1.Hugo Ollas made three saves on five shots before being replaced by Michael Bullion after the second Lions goal. Michael Bullion stopped all 19 of the shots he faced in his relief effort. Luke Cavallin stopped all but one of Worcester’s 46 shots. Issac Dufort, Tyler Hylland, and Anthony Beauregard scored for Trois-Rivieres. Tyler Kobryn had the lone goal for Worcester.
The Railers were 0-for-6 on the power play, which included a four-minute power play at the beginning of the second period. The Railers managed to kill off four penalties, and the lone goal for Worcester came while on the penalty kill. With the game being a one-goal game up until the empty netter late in the third period, this was another close game between the two clubs and yet another two points that got away.
Trois-Rivières struck first on Sunday afternoon when Isaac Dufort opened the scoring on a scramble in front of Hugo Ollas to give the Lions an early lead at 7:15 in the first period. Tyler Hylland then added a shorthanded goal to extend the advantage at 18:47 when be broke into the Railers zone and sent one to the far corner on a shot from the right faceoff circle to beat Hugo Ollas. Ollas would have an early night as Michael Bullion was put in net after the Lions’ second goal. Riley Ginnell fought Israel Mianscum at the 12:46 mark of the first period. Despite trailing 2-0, the Railers outshot the Lions 14-5 in the first period.
Worcester responded with a shorthanded goal of their own at 15:42 in the second period, with Tyler Kobryn cut the deficit to one. Kobryn skated into the Lions zone with a 2-on-2 with Jordan Kaplan and sent the puck over the shoulder of Luke Cavallin from atop of the right faceoff circle for his fifth as a Railer. Railers trailed by one heading into the third period, outshooting the Lions 15-9 in the frame.
Michael Bullion would be pulled with under two minutes left in regulation, where Anthony Beauregard would seal the game with an empty-net goal at 18:56, securing a 3-1 victory for Trois-Rivières.

The Adirondack Thunder shut out the Wheeling Nailers 2-0 in Glens Falls, the only other North Division matchup of the night. With a 2-1 loss, the Railers lose ground in the battle for fourth place in the division, as the Royals hold a game in hand with both teams tied at 60 points. The Maine Mariners will host the Norfolk Admirals for a school day game on Tuesday morning, while the Wheeling Nailers welcome the Trois-Rivières Lions for a similar contest on Wednesday morning.
In the AHL, the Bridgeport Islanders fell 5-2 to the Springfield Thunderbirds. Jack Randl and Justin Gill suited up for Bridgeport, along with Daylan Kuefler, who played his first game of the season. Henrik Tikkanen served as the backup goaltender behind Hunter Miska. The Islanders have now dropped eight straight (0-5-2-1) and begin a Canadian road trip Wednesday night in Laval, QC, where they will take on the Rocket.
The Railers return to Worcester to host the Norfolk Admirals in a three-game series, beginning Thursday night at 7:05 p.m.
