Hi sharks fans! My name’s Tom Cavanagh, I’m one of the forwards on the Worcester Sharks and I’ll be keeping a summer blog on the website for anyone interested in reading. Here’s a little info about me to get started:

I grew up in nearby Warwick, RI just under an hour drive from downtown Worcester. I played high school hockey for four years at Toll Gate High School in Warwick, graduating in ’00, and took a post-graduate year at Phillips Exeter in New Hampshire before playing four years at Harvard University, finishing up school in the spring of ’05. Last year I played in Cleveland in my first year of professional hockey. I come from a big family, I have four bothers and four sisters, and all of my brothers play hockey. In fact my two older brothers played right here in Worcester at Holy Cross, so I’m already familiar with the area. Well, needless to say, being a local product, I am very excited to be in Worcester next year and can’t wait for the start of next season!

I hope everyone’s spring has gone well. I have been home in Warwick for just about a month now and my time has consisted mostly of seeing a lot of family and friends, starting to work-out and watching a lot of the NHL playoffs and Red Sox games from my couch. It was heart-breaking to see the Sharks lose, but they played great. They just ran into a hot team and a hot goaltender.

Well, thanks for reading, I’ll be writing in again soon!
