Worcester, MA- The Worcester IceCats’ National Hockey League (NHL) affiliate, the St. Louis Blues, today assigned forwards Lubos Bartecko and Reed Low to the American Hockey League (AHL) club. Both players assigned have appeared with the IceCats during the last two seasons.

Bartecko was the IceCats fifth leading scorer during the 1998-99 campaign compiling 14 goals and 24 assists in 49 games: 49(14/24/38). Additionally, last season he appeared in 32 games for St. Louis, registering five goals and 11 assists: 32(5/11/16). Originally signed as a free agent by the Blues on October 3rd, 1997, the left wing scored 10 goals and added 12 assists for the IceCats during the 1997-98 season: 34(10/12/22).

Low will also be making an appearance in Worcester for a third straight year. Drafted by St. Louis with their 7th choice, 177th overall, in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, he logged time in Worcester and Baton Rouge of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) during the 1997-98 season. The 6-3 220 pound right wing was second on the 1998-99 IceCats in penalty minutes with 239. In his team high 77 games, he registered five goals and six assists: 77(5/6/11). During the 1999 pre-season with St. Louis, he recorded two assists in seven games and led the club in penalty minutes with 28.

The IceCats open their sixth season at Worcester’s Centrum Centre on Saturday, October 2nd at 7:35 PM against the Lowell Lock Monsters.
