2017 CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic to be Televised Nationally on NHL Network

The ECHL announced on Thursday that the 2017 CCM / ECHL All-Star Classic will air LIVE exclusively on NHL Network on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at 8pm EST from the Glens Falls Civic Center in Glens Falls, N.Y. For Worcester Hockey fans looking to see players who could potentially be playing for the Railers next season, this event will be something to look out for. This will be the first time the event has ever been televised nationally.

Rucker Purchases Main Street Offices

It was announced on Thursday, that Cliff Rucker had purchased the Bowditch & Dewey offices at 311 Main Street. The firm said the transactions includes a long term renovation and modernization to the building. Terms of the transactions were not disclosed. The firm will continue to be based at this locations.

These offices are right next door to where the Worcester IceCats, Tornadoes, and where the Bravehearts currently have their offices at 303 Main Street.

It was reported on Friday by MassLive that Rucker bought the building with intentions of renovating some of the building into Retail space.

“Everything that I’m doing is to increase value in the downtown area and try to continue to bring people and excitement to the downtown area,” Rucker said in a phone interview on Friday morning. “I’m committed to bringing people to the downtown area.”

Tim Kennedy’s Contract Gets Terminated

In an announcement made by the Luleå Hockey team, forward Tim Kennedy informed the team that he wanted to move back to the United States and both parties agreed to terminate his contract. In a total of 18 games, Kennedy faced a tough start to the season and faced injuries. Kennedy did not live up to expectations put out by both the team and himself so the

“It is unfortunate that things have not gone as planned here in Luleå. Therefore, we have a family decision to move back to the US again. I can only thank Luleå Hockey for this opportunity to play in the SHL and wish the team all the best for the future and to win championships this spring.”

Kennedy last played in the United States during the 2014-15 season for the Hershey Bears. It is possible we may see him signing a contract with an AHL or ECHL team within the next few weeks.

Riley Gill Named ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Second Week in a Row

Riley Gill was named CCM/ECHL Goaltender of the Week for December 5-11. He is the first goaltender to win consecutive awards and previously won consecutive awards for the March 17 and 24, 2013 while with Reading. It is the fifth time overall in his career that Gill has received the weekly honor, tied for the third most in ECHL history. Gill went 2-0-0 with one shootout,  a 0.53 goals-against average and a .987 save percentage in two appearances last week.

JP Anderson signed a PTO with the Utica Comets (AHL) on December 10.

Ashton Rome was released from his contract with the Iserlohn Roosters (DEL) on December 12.

Mikael Tam was assigned to the Norfolk Admirals (ECHL) by the Bakersfield Condors (AHL) on December 13.

Mike Pelech was traded to the Utah Grizzlies (ECHL) from the Reading Royals (ECHL) on December 13, for future considerations.

JP Anderson was returned to the Adirondack Thunder (ECHL) from the Utica Comets (AHL) on December 13.

Tim Kennedy was terminated from his contract with the Luleå HF (SHL) on December 15.

Ashton Rome signed a contract with the Manchester Monarchs (ECHL) on December 15.
