Game Story

Worcester, MA — The Worcester Railers were handed their seventh-straight loss of the season on Wednesday, falling 4-3 to the Manchester Monarchs in overtime.

Mitch Gillam and Blake Wojtala both saw action as Gillam was replaced by Wojtala to start the third period. Manchester scored on an awkward 2-on-1 advantage with Tony Cameranesi netting his 23rd goal of the season at 4:18. Bokodji Imama lost his balance heading into the Railers zone and in a pass towards the net, Cameranesi got a backhand shot over the pad of Mitch Gillam. Worcester tied things up at 10:51 when Tyler Mueller scored on a one-timed shot just outside the right circle, bringing the game to 1-1.

Scoring his first professional goal, Tim Shoup gave the Monarchs the lead on a shot from the blueline at 18:25 in the second. Ross Olsson fought Bokodji Imama with Imama getting an easy takedown with Olsson’s jersey over his head and jerked down to the ice. Bokodji Imama and Connor Doherty were given 10-minute misconducts for unsportsmanlike conduct at 12:12. Monarchs led 2-1 through two periods, shots 34-22 Worcester.

Blake Wojtala was put in net to begin the third period. Wojtala allowed a goal on the first shot on net at 28 seconds by Pavel Jenys from the right circle. Nick Sorkin brought the Railers back to within one at 5:04 on a rebound that was tucked between the pads of Charles Williams. Robert Powers ended a cold streak at six games on a shot outside the left circle, scoring his fifth of the season on a bounce to tie things up with under four minutes to go in the third period.

Daniil Miromanov netted the game-winning goal at 2:25 in the overtime period with a rush into the Railers zone with a backhand shot at the crease to give Manchester the 4-3 victory.
